A Pleasent Way to Spend the Weekend

I love food. There is no way of denying it. I am very creative at the moment making all kinds of keto related foods, but then I came across a box I had sitting in my kitchen for quite some time now. In it is a home made mix for an amazing hot chocolate. 

Here is the recipe for the Ultimate Hot Chocolate from Jamie Oliver’s Cook Book.

This all makes a jar for about 16 servings. So you can enjoy your work for some weeks!

You will need: 200g quality dark chocolate (70% or more), 100g quality coco powder, 100g icing sugar, 50g cornflour, 50 Horlicks (it’s a malted drink), pinch of sea salt

Leave the chocolate in the fridge or freezer for 30 mins. Take it out and blend it in a food processor, but not to long or it will melt (happened to me). Add all the other ingredients and mix it all up, then put it into a jar to keep it.

To make the ultimate chocolate drink put a cup of milk into a sauce pan with two heaped table spoons of your mix and start heating it. Let it boil for a little bit so it will get thick and then pour it into your favourite cup and enjoy it!

 Ich liebe Essen. Das kann ich nicht verheimlichen. Ich bin sehr kreative im Moment mit Keto Essen, aber dann stoß ich auf eine Schachtel in meiner Küche, die sich da schon eine Zeit befand. In der Dose, die beste Mischung für eine heiße Schokolade.

Hier ist das Rezept für die ultimative heiße Schokolade von Jamie Oliver's Kochbuch. Das Rezept macht 16 Portionen, so das man es für ein paar Wochen genießen kann.

Man braucht: 200g dunkle Schokolade (70% oder mehr), 100g gutes Kakao, 100g Puderzucker, 50g Stärkemehl, 50g Horlicks (ein Malt Getränk), Prise Meersalz

Habt die Schokolade im Kühlschrank oder Tiefkühlschrank für ungefähr 30 min. Zerkleinert die Schokolade mit einem "Blender" (mir fällt jetzt nicht ein wie man das in Deutsch nennt), nicht zu lang sonst schmelzt die Schokolade (ist mir passiert) und dann mischt die anderen Zutaten unter. Das Endprodukt kann in ein Glas oder luftdichte Schachtel gegeben werden um es aufzubewahren. 

Um das beste Getränk der Welt zu machen, muss man eine Tasse Milch und zwei Esslöffel unserer Mischung in einem Topf aufwärmen und zum kochen bringen, bis es ein wenig dickflüssig wird und dann in eine Lieblingstasse gießen. Lasst es euch schmecken!

We are cooking for Thanksgiving in our house today. I know two days late, but everybody is home today and we will have a lovely dinner. I would love to have this in my big castle kitchen! Oh dreams …

Luxury

Ever felt like you should go out and get something really expensive, a designer piece, to absolutely spoil yourself!? I did. A lot of times! But this luxury rush was crushed by my bank account and the thought of food for the week. So I am not earning wages to effort a new Michael Kors bag or a Dior dress… a girl can dream!
BUT I can effort a little luxury and I have a great excuse! I am a makeup artist and I like trying all kind of brands, specially designer brands. Everyone has heard of Chanel and Dior and their makeup lines a famous even in the world of normal wages!
So I go out and look at brands where I like the advertisement (I am package orientated, if it does not catch my eye, it will not be bought) and try them. The ladies working on the different counters are normally very nice and helpful and I can’t praise the girls at the Dior counter in Brown Thomas Galway enough. They always help with any issues and find the right product for you and encourage you to try something new!

My two favourite luxury items I have in my makeup bag are lipsticks and foundations. Here are two of my favourite foundations from Dior and Giorgio Armani.

Habt ihr jemals das Gefühl gehabt ihr solltet los ziehen und euch etwas teures, ein Designer Stück kaufen und euch einfach mal so richtig verwöhnen?! Ja ich auch. Ziemlich oft sogar, aber mein Bankkonto macht mir da immer einen Strich durch die Rechnung und das schlechte Gewissen, da ich ja auch in der Woche was essen muss.

Ich verdiene also nicht so viel Geld um mir eine neue Michael Kors Tasche kaufen zu können, oder ein Dior Kleid... aber Mädchen können ja mal träumen.

ABER ich kann mir einen kleinen Luxus leisten und ich hab eine gute Ausrede. Ich bin ein Makeup Artist und ich liebe es all mögliche Produkte auszuprobieren, vor allem Designer Makeup. Jeder hat ja schon von Chanel und Dior gehört, auch die mit einem normalen Einkommen.

Also ziehe ich manchmal los und schaue was mich so anspricht (Werbung zieht bei mir ganz toll) und ich probiere sie dann aus. Die lieben Damen an den verschiedenen Makeup Theken sind immer sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. (zumindest in Irland, vor allem Dior in Brown Thomas Galway)

Meine zwei Lieblinge in Luxus Produkten die es in meine persönliche Makeup Tasche schaffen sind Lippenstifte und Makeup (foundations).

Hier sind zwei meiner Favoriten Dior und Giorgio Armani.

Dior Nude is a dream to wear. It looks very natural and it will last all day. It can go on very cheer or you can build it up a little to get a great coverage. The Nude collection is very big, with concealers, powders and co. Something for everyone. The only thing: I can’t wear it when I get a cold. The skin around my nose goes very dry then and it looks flaky with the foundation on. Which is a shame, because I love this foundation.

Dior Nude ist ein Traum-Makeup. So schön zu tragen, es sieht natürlich aus und hält den ganzen Tag. Es kann dünn aufgetragen werden oder etwas stärker um ein wenig mehr zu verstecken. Die Nude Kollektion kommt mit Concealers, Puders und co. Für jeden also etwas. Das einzige Minus: Ich kann dieses Makeup nicht tragen wenn ich Schnupfen habe. Meine Haut um die Nase wird dann immer sehr trocken und sieht dann schuppig aus wenn ich Nude trage. Was schade ist, da ich dieses Makeup liebe.

Next one is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I tried this one over the summer. I heard a lot pro Makeup artist talk about this one and I had to try it. It goes on so easy and it looks brilliant all day long. It has a little shimmer build in and makes you look fresh and glowing all day long. 

Als nächste ist mein Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Ich habe dieses Makeup über nen Sommer ausprobiert, nachdem ich so viele Pro Makeup Artist darüber sprechen gehört habe. Es lässt sich so leicht auftragen und sieht den ganzen Tag super aus. Es kommt mit ein wenig Schimmer und lässt einen den ganzen Tag frisch und strahlend aussehen.

Fairytale Dream

In wintertime in Ireland you get these cold crisp mornings that make everything look like from a fairytale. Any ruin or castle carries this magic. I love to catch this in my photographs.

In Irland in der Winterzeit bekommt man immer wieder diese schönen kalten Morgen die alles so aussehen lassen wie aus einem Märchen. Jedes Schloss oder Burg trägt dann immer so eine Magie mit sich. Ich liebe es diese Momente in meiner Fotografie zu fangen.

Winter Skin

A lot of my friends and clients ask me what is the best product to protect your skin over the winter! And here is a bit of a longer answer that not everyone will like, but I try my best to cover everything.

One good thing is to have a good skin care routine, which means cleanse, tone and moisturise morning AND evening! Your skin will thank you for the extra attention.

Another thing to have and what most people will neglect in the winter time is a good sun protection (This is a big thing!). The sun shines in winter too and can be quite harsh to the skin. We won’t even feel it, because of the cold, but the sun will still do damage to your skin, even in winter.

So I use this little baby here. Clinique Super City Block. This one here is my summer one, hence the 40 SPF, but for winter I drop down to 25 SPF. I like this sun blocker, because it works like a primer under my makeup and nothing moves or gets blotchy during the day. I also know my skin is protected.

I think I will do a post on how to treat your skin during winter. There is so much to talk about and so many options, I will show you my favourites!

Die meisten meiner Freunde und Kunden fragen mich was denn die besten Produkte wären, um die Haut gut über den Winter zu bekommen. Nun hier ist eine Antwort die lang werden wird und den meisten wahrscheinlich nicht passen wird, aber ich werde probieren alles zu erklären.

Als erstes sollte man wahrscheinlich eine gute Routine haben wo man sein Gesicht morgens UND abends reinigt mit Gesichtsreiniger, Toner und dann einer guten Feuchtigkeitscreme. Eure Haut wird euch die extra Aufmerksamkeit danken.

Und ein weiterer Schritt, den wahrscheinlich die meisten nicht machen, ist Sonnenschutz für das Gesicht. Auch im Winter scheint die Sonne und sie kann sehr harsch zur Haut sein, vor allem weil wir es meistens nicht mitbekommen durch die Kälte. Aber die liebe Sonne wird auch im Winter unsere Haut angreifen.

Ich benutze daher Clinique Super City Block. Dieser hier ist mit SPF 40 (meine Sommer Nummer), aber im Winter gehe ich auf SPF 25. Ich mag diesen Sonnenschutz sehr, da er als Primer funktioniert und mein Makeup nicht verschmiert oder fleckig aussieht. Ich weiss auch, dass meine Haut geschützt ist!

Ich glaube ich werde dem nächst ein Post darüber machen, wie man seine Haut am Besten schützt über den Winter. Da kann man so viel erzählen und es gibt so viele Produkte. Ich werde euch meine Liebsten zeigen!

Sugar Detox

About four weeks ago I went on a new diet to treat my headaches and migraines. It is called ketogenic diet (Keto-Diet) or Keto Adapted Lifestyle! Basically you cut out all sugars in your life, lower you carbohydrate intake to 20-30 grams a day  and your metabolism will change from burning glucose as an energy source to burning fat as one. You will change your diet to a high fat low carb diet. This will detox your body from all bad influences you had inside you and will heal itself. And I can say that it works! I was 4 weeks headache free, till I fell of the wagon this weekend and had a full on carb day yesterday. To say that I’m in a bad mood is an understatement. I have a sore head, I am in an all around bad mood and just feel a little sick. All put down to my sugar overload.
I’m even not in the mood to blog, which hasn’t happened in four weeks. So once I am detoxed again and back in a good mood the blog will be back in full!

Vor ungefähr vier Wochen habe ich mein Leben auf den Kopf gestellt um meine Kopfschmerzen und Migränen los zu werden. Ich bin auf eine Keto-Diät umgestiegen. Das heißt das ich Zucker generell aus meine Diät ausgeschlossen habe und meine Kohlenhydrat Einnahme auf 20-30 Gramm pro Tag eingeschränkt habe. Man isst also viel Fett und wenige Kohlenhydrate, das zwingt den Körper Fett als Energie zu verbrennen und nicht Glukose. All das entgiftet den Körper und befreit einen von den ganzen schlechten Einflüssen die man so mit sich rum schleppt. Und ich kann auch sagen das es hilft! Ich hatte vier Wochen keine Kopfschmerzen, das war bis dieses Wochenende, wo ich so gesündigt habe, dass es mir jetzt total schlecht geht. Kopfschmerzen und schlechte Laune sind die generellen Nebenwirkungen.
Ich habe keine Lust auf irgendetwas, noch nicht einmal aufs bloggen, was in fier Wochen nicht vorgekommen ist. Wenn also der ganze Zucker wieder aus meinem System ist, dann sollte es mir eigentlich wieder besser gehen und alles wieder beim Alten sein.

Keep Warm Drink Tea

To keep warm in this cold weather I like to drink a lot of tea! I used to love my black tea with a tea spoon of honey and a little milk, but I had to change my diet a little, so no more sugar for me! So I found a new tea that tastes sweet on its own and keeps me warm! Yum yum!

Um mich warm zu halten in diesen kalten Wetter trinke ich ganz viel Tee. Ich liebte ja meinen schwarzen Tee mit einem Teelöffel Honig und ein wenig Milch, aber ich musste meine Essensgewohnheiten umstellen und daher kann ich kein Zucker mehr haben! Aber ich habe einen neuen tollen Tee gefunden der mich warm hält und lecker ohne alles schmeckt! yum yum

Here they are now! All six colours of the Catrice Velvet Matt Collection! I have to say I like all of them, but my favourites are N° 030 and 040 with 010 following closely! You can apply them (all colours) just on its own and blend them out to get your simple smokey eye or you can combine the colours! There is a shade for everyone and for €3,99 definitely affordable even for a broke student! The colours have a amazing pay off and I would even go so far as to say that the pigmentation is better then some MAC eye shadows and the texture is so soft! Just a dream and worth to have in your beauty bag!

Und hier sind sie nun! Alle sechs Farben von der neuen Catrice Velvet Matt Collection! Ich muss sagen das ich sie alle liebe, aber meine absoluten Favoriten sind N° 030 und 040, gefolgt von 010. Man kann sie alleine tragen und sie verblenden um ein einfaches Smokey Eye zu bekommen, oder die Farben mischen wie man mag. Da ist auf jeden Fall eine Farbe für jeden und für nur €3,99 auf jeden Fall erschwinglich, auch wenn man kaum Geld hat. Die Lidschatten sind kräftig und ich gehe ja schon so weit zu sagen, dass sie sogar mehr Pigmentiert sind wie manch MAC eye shadows und die Textur ist so weich. Einfach nur ein Traum und auf jeden Fall ein muss in jeder Beauty Bag!

Furry Coat

For cold but sunny days the only thing you need to keep you warm is a furry coat (fake fur of course!!!)! They are available in any shop at the moment and come in all kinds of styles, shapes, colours and furryness! I got my one in TKMaxx.
Main reason I got it: Black, Long and Pockets! Nothing more important then Pockets to keep your hands warm!
The only thing missing: A big colour or even a hood!

Um einen warm zu halten an kalten aber sonnigen Tagen bit es nichts besser wie ein Pelzmantel (fake natürlich!!!)! Die gibt es Momentan überall in allen Formen, Farben, Styles und Kuschligkeit! Ich habe meinen in TKMaxx gekauft.

Hauptgrund: Er ist schwarz, lang und hat Taschen! Taschen sind sehr wichtig um die Hände warm zu halten an kalten Tagen.

Das einzige was fehlt: Kein großer Kragen oder sogar Kapuze!

Surprise Foundation

I had a huge surprise the other day. When I went to get more colours of the Catrice Velvet Matt eye shadows, I picked up one of their new foundations, Natural Illusion too. I tried it out over the weekend and I have to say that I am a huge fan! The coverage is great, it lasts all day, my skin does not react to it and I got compliments on how good my skin looked all day! Now that is a success I would say!

The colour range is good and I’m wearing the lightest one, which is still a bit dark and I can’t imagine that it will suit very fair people (and they don’t have really dark tones either), but maybe they change that in the future. But if you find a tone that suits you, you should give it a try. It is worth the €8!

Mascara

Here are two of my absolute favourite mascaras! First one up is my first love Benefit - They're real!

Hier sind zwei meine absoluten Lieblings Mascara! Als erstes meine erste Liebe Benefit - They're real!

Most people know this mascara! I love it because it is black and that all day. The brush is great to get the product on the lashes and to separate them as well. The only thing is that it can dry my lashes if I use it to much and it is a hard job to get off again.

Die meisten kennen diesen Mascara. Ich liebe ihn weil er ein schönes schwarz hat und auch den ganzen Tag so bleibt. Die Bürste ist toll um das Produkt an die Wimpern zu bekommen und sie gut durch zu kämmen. Das einzige was mich immer ein wenig genervt hat ist das er meine Wimpern austrocknet wenn ich ihn zu lange benutze und das es so schwer ist ihn ab zu bekommen!


Everybody knows L’Oreal, their gorgeous  advertisements and of course their mascaras! Their mascaras are world famous and I say everyone has one or two L’Oreal mascaras floating in the house. But most people don’t know this mascara. Could be that it is hard to find, that it is on the more expensive site and that the technology that is used in the mascara is quite new. Here is my favourite mascara of them all, the L’Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes Technology Mascara.

Jeder kennt L'Oreal, die wunderschönen Werbungen und natürlich deren Mascaras. Ich vermute mal das jeder ein oder zwei Mascaras von L'Oreal zu Hause rum schweben hat. Aber die meisten kennen noch dicht diesen Mascara. Könnte daran liegen das er schwer zu finden ist, etwas teurer ist und das die Zusammensetzung in dem Product neu ist. Hier ist also mein absoluter Lieblings Mascara, der L'Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tube Thechnology Mascara.

I did some research on mascaras and I wanted to find one that lasts all day with a good black and won’t ruin my lashes (and eyes). I came across an article from Kevin James Bennett (beauty guru and the best) about the new generation of tube mascaras and how they work. If you want to know more about it I let the master himself explain it to you (check it out here). Since L’Oreal is available in most places I picked this one and  I am in love. Long, black lashes and that all day. The mascara comes off with some warm water and makeup remover in the evenings and I have no panda eyes in the morning! Win, Win!

Ich hatte mich dann mal auf die Suche gemacht nach einen Mascara der nen ganzen Tag hält, ein schönes schwarz hat und meine Wimpern (und Augen) nicht kaputt macht! Da kam ich an einen Bericht von Kevin James Bennett (Beauty Guru und der Beste) der über die neue Generation von Tube Mascaras berichtet und wie sie funktionieren. Wenn ihr mehr darüber erfahren wollt, dann schaut doch mal hier vorbei! L'Oreal gibt es ja fast überall und daher habe ich mich dann für diesen entschieden und ich liebe ihn! Lange, schwarze Wimpern, die den ganzen Tag halten. Am Abend kommt der Mascara dann mit ein wenig warmen Wasser und Makeup Entferner runter ohne Probleme! Keine Augenringe am Morgen! Winning!
